Yeah it sucks that Maya does not have a 64bit version for macs, and it will not come out for quite a while. I personally been looking at using CInema 4D (which runs 64bit natively, but that's not the only reason for the shift in interest), so it works out okay for me. The main attraction of the iMac is that I can work with Mac OS X instead of Windows. I've got nothing against Windows, it's just that I've been using Mac OS X for so long I just can't imagine going back to Windows anymore. If you are a Maya user who has never used a mac before, I'd suggest you to stick to PC and invest on powerful workstation-grade CPU and GPU. You'll get a much powerful system for cheaper.
